Pay Rate: $18.00/Hour - $24.00/Hour

Schedule: Negotiable - Late Afternoon, Evening, and/or Weekends

FrontEdge Inc., a software development company in Rochester NY with approximately 5,500 sq feet of office space, is seeking a reliable, experienced, part-time Office Cleaner to clean, organize, and maintain our office space and office cleaning tools and supplies, onsite for 20-hours per week. Schedule is negotiable but must also be stable and reliable (may include late afternoons, evenings, and/or weekend days).

Job Description

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Clean, organize, and maintain areas of the office space using a checklist to record, track, and communicate your progress, including the following general areas:

    • Employee workstations

    • Areas surrounding employee workstations

    • Stairs and railings

    • Common areas and hallways/transitional spaces

    • Conference Rooms

    • Kitchen and eating area

    • Bathrooms

    • Exit/Entryways

    • Office walls, windows, and floors in Atrium (only as necessary)

  • Correctly/safely use cleaning tools, equipment, and supplies and appropriate/safe cleaning methods for different areas and items to:

    • Sweep up/vacuum and discard loose debris on floors

    • Mop floors until clean with water and cleaning solution

    • Clean accessible windows

    • Clean and disinfect doorknobs and light switches

    • Dust / remove debris from windowsills, countertops, and other surfaces

    • Dust / remove debris from cracks and other crevices not easily accessible by vacuum cleaner.

    • Clean and organize the supplies (eraser and markers) of white boards

    • Clean/remove marks on floors, walls, and doors (if possible)

    • Spot clean and vacuum carpeted or mat-covered areas

    • Clean / dust ceiling, including exposed HVAC ducts and vents.

    • Clean and disinfect chairs and kitchen tabletop

    • Clean and disinfect countertops, sinks, and faucets

    • Clean mirrors

    • Clean / disinfect toilets (including toilet seat lid, seat, bowl, flush lever, and exterior surfaces)

    • Clean and disinfect refrigerators (2 refrigerators, 1x per month)

    • Clean and/or disinfect electronic equipment in a manner that will not cause damage (ask for direction, if unsure about how to do so)

    • Clean and disinfect chairs and conference room tabletops

    • Organize furniture and materials left on surfaces and declutter where possible

    • Clean office windows (exterior to office, but still inside the building) facing the Atrium.

  • Empty/clean/detangle and generally maintain office robot vacuum cleaners.

  • Empty trashcans and recycling bins and replace trashcan/recycle bin liners.

  • Prepare office refuse for removal by building maintenance team and/or business owner.

  • Clean (and/or otherwise maintain) tools and equipment after usage.

  • Keep tools, equipment, and supplies organized and put away in a proper location when not in use.

  • Maintain inventory list of tools, equipment, and supplies and communicate to business owner when items require replacement or replenishment.

  • Recommend to business owner additional (or alternative) tools, equipment, and supplies that could improve Office Cleaner job performance, increase the order/cleanliness of spaces maintained by the Office Cleaner, or save the business owner time/money.

  • Tools, equipment, and supplies required to perform job duties/responsibilities will be provided by the business owner; however, the Office Cleaner will use properly, and maintain, the tools, equipment, and supplies required to perform job duties/responsibilities:

    • Use tools, equipment, and supplies in a proper manner that:

      • Does not result in injury or harm to the Office Cleaner, other people, property of the business, or property of the building owners

      • Is hygienic

      • Promotes the longevity of tools, equipment, and supplies

      • Is not wasteful

Candidate Attributes, Skills, & Experience

In addition to the skills/experience required to do the above detailed job duties/responsibilities with minimal direction, the ideal candidate will have the following attributes, skills, and/or experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of professional cleaning experience, preferably in an office environment

  • At least 3 professional references (more than 3 is even better)

  • Ability to self-organize and perform/complete job duties in an efficient manner

  • Ability to work independently

  • Willingness to perform duties in an empty office and in an office with employees working

  • Knowledgeable of correct/safe usage of cleaning tools, equipment, and supplies

  • Knowledgeable of appropriate/safe cleaning methods for different areas and items

  • Knowledgeable of hygienic cleaning practices—especially in bathrooms and eating areas

  • Ability to perform repetitive, physical tasks in a safe manner that does not result in personal injury

  • Professional demeanor

  • Attention to detail

  • Dependable and reliable—Ability to commit to and work on an agreed to schedule

  • Acceptable background check

  • Must be able to safely lift up-to 45 pounds

  • Must be able to use stairs

  • Must provide own transportation to and from work
